Authenticity. We want you to be honest and be yourself. And, we promise to try to do the same. Please don’t pretend to believe anything you don’t. Just be yourself. God made you you after all.
Seeing shades of gray. We don’t live in a simplistic black and white world. We never have, so we don’t pretend that life is anything but complex. In fact, we welcome the tension of disrupting traditional categories. After all, doesn’t the Bible say that’s a lot of what Jesus was up to?
Coming together. You can try to live a life of faith by yourself, but it’s awfully hard and really no fun. God made people to hang out in community. So we challenge ourselves to see each person as valued and valuable, to be open to each encounter as sacred and transforming.
A community open to diversity and grounded in Christ. We believe Jesus calls us to welcome the stranger and be hospitable to all. Too often, Christian communities push away those on the margins, or think inside a very small box. The Project F-M is a ministry supported by many partner organizations of the Lutheran Church (ELCA). In God’s ice cream parlor of Christian denominations, we taste a bit Lutheran in flavor. We think Lutherans are tasty, but also should mix well with others. Mmm, mint chocolate chip!
